3 Years Ago Today My Life Changed forever.

December 5, 2019 I suffered a medical emergency as I was getting ready to get off the plane in Shanghai, China. I was walking down the aisle and I went to get my stuff out of the overhead compartment and I fainted. I tried to get up and I fell back down again. They called for medical professionals and put me in the front seat of the plane and they were giving me oxygen. I couldn’t walk at all. I just didn’t have any kind of strength and at that time I didn’t know what was going on. They put me in a wheelchair and then pushed me to the ambulance. Then, I was rushed to the nearest hospital and had to go to the emergency room of course. So, I was laying down on the bed and then the doctor told me that I had multiple pulmonary embolisms. I stayed in the hospital 15 days. I was in ICU for like over a week and then I was on the respiratory floor for the remainder of my stay. I’m so grateful to be alive because you can die from pulmonary embolisms if not treated right away. I had to go all the way across the world just to get sick and not enjoy my vacation. I’m grateful for my friends that helped me. It was hard for them to enjoy the vacation with me being in the hospital. It was hard being in the hospital by myself per se but it wasn’t bad because the people treated me well. I’m a type of person that I don’t mind being by myself and I’m fine being myself. Being in ICU was a different experience especially in a foreign country.

It was a long road to recovery. I didn’t lay on my back for a long time because I felt like I was suffocating. That was scary. I slept at and sitting up. Once my lungs got a bit stronger I was able to sleep regularly. I am grateful to be here today and I am grateful for all the prayers that people prayed while I was in China so that I could get well soon.
